Mega Jump is a complete journey through the fairy meadows of lush forests into the dusk of sands towards the reaches of cloudy skies and finally into the molten asteroid belt in space. The epic concept by the ‘Get Set’ team finally hits the Android platform after enjoying millions of downloads on iOS.
The developers of Mega Jump are renown for their ‘money to free’ experiment in the App market. Initially they charged $0.99 for the game which resulted in meager sales of few thousands per day. Later, the team decided to walk the freeway with their app. As a result of lifting this price tag, Mega Jump got over a million downloads in just few days.
I downloaded this game a while back with a sole reason that this App scored a massive 4.5 stars on the market. Although some of you guys might not trust these ratings but I surely think that user experience speaks louder than anything and if an app is getting downloaded over a million times then it surely worths something.
Before going into the detail of everything let me summarize some things about this game.
- Mega Jump is a lot of fun especially if you prefer competitive games.
- You can download it for free from the Google Play market. (Download Link)
- Goal is simple. Keep collecting coins to prevent your ‘monster cartoon’ from falling down.
- The game progress in the upward direction. There is no left right :p
- With over 20 stages in medium and hard difficulty, Mega Jump is ‘almost’ endless.
- You’ll get bored after two days for sure.
So, the summary is set. Now on to main review.
Interface
The first thing you’ll notice about this game is its unique character design. Mega Jump gets a cartoon make up as everything looks fun, cute and ‘cartoonized’. Don’t worry the game is not for kids. It’s just the unique outlook of everything in the game that sets it apart from the rest. Last time I saw this kind of outlook in the Angry Birds series. If you’re thinking this game is at par with the mighty Angry Birds then I’m afraid I have bad news for you as Mega Jump addiction factor is comparatively low.
The character design is simply awesome. I would give 5/5 when it comes to the character creation. All the monsters in the game are beautifully aligned with the overall theme of the game and you’ll certainly enjoy their funny outlook.

Main menu simply shows the ‘Play’, ‘Store’, ‘Settings’ and ‘Free MP’ buttons. This is apart from the Facebook and Twitter link button for the application with which you can synchronize the game and share your high scores with your friends.
Before moving to the play button, let us check out what does other buttons do. Pressing the store key will take you to the Shop from where you can unlock new characters, wallpapers and power ups. The free MP button is basically an announcement board which offers different ways of getting MP for your game. The MP is the basic currency in the game and it probably stands for ‘Mega Points’. (My Guess :p)
Now on to the main game. Click Play to start the game. From this screen you can select different stages. In the beginning, you get to have only stage 1. You can unlock other stages by progressing through the game or spending some serious MP. It takes over 3000 MP to unlock the next stage so stop thinking of shortcuts.
Gameplay
Mega Jump is all about jumping as high as you can. Unlike traditional jumping, this one takes place by collecting coins. Simply tilt your phone in the direction of the coins and collect them in order to jump higher. Each coin lets you make a jump to the next one. Missing a coin would mean ‘free fall’ and Game Over but there are plenty of coins to hold on to in the beginning.
There are over 6 special boost powers in the game. These range from acceleration boosters to balloon to mere umbrellas that simply slows your downfall. My favorite is the Blue fiery booster that adds a magnetic effect and sheer acceleration effect to your character. The magnetic power up forces the coins to come to you while balloon power up lets you float freely high up in the air preventing downfall. The star power ups are simple boosters.

All these power ups can be upgraded through the store room but demands a hefty amount of MP. The mega points are not easy to score though. Each MP is equivalent to 10 coins and it takes time to adapt to the gameplay.
There are life line stars which you can buy from the store as well. These give you a chance to revive your character if you are falling down. Timing is necessary though.
Mega Jump is not simply about collecting coins. It’s also about evading your enemies and obstacles that make their appearance in the later stages.
Is it Fun?
This will be the crux of everything I’ve said above. Yes, Mega Jump is fun to play as long as it lasts. It’s challenging, looks beautiful and takes time to get used to.
For How long you can Play this game?
Mega Jump has over 20 stages. It does have a gameplay time value but eventually, you’ll get bored with the same movements of tilting your phone right and left.
Is it worth the Download?
If you’re looking for a free Android game then I would surely recommend Mega Jump as it’s way better than many other games on the market.
Is this review worth it?
I leave this question up to you guys.
